The Final Lift
Your journey begins at the Adventure Centre, where you are greeted by your guides and fitted with premium snowshoe gear. As the resort winds down, you will board the final chairlift ride of the day. Floating 238 metres above the valley in the fading golden hour, you’ll witness a silence that few ever get to experience on the mountain.
Fondue at the Summit
Upon reaching the peak of Dickson Mountain, you will be welcomed into the summit cabin—a warm, rustic sanctuary transformed for the evening.
Forget the standard trail snacks; this is a high-alpine dining experience. Bathed in soft candlelight and the gentle hum of acoustic music, you will settle in for a multi-course fondue feast designed by Canthooks Restaurant.
-
The Fondue: Indulge in a rich, bubbling Swiss-style cheese fondue followed by a premium meat selection, served with artisanal breads and seasonal accompaniments.
-
Wine Pairing: Your meal is elevated by a curated wine pairing led by Natalie Lemieux, Calabogie Peaks' on-site Events Manager. She will guide you through each pour, sharing the stories behind the labels (sophisticated non-alcoholic pairings are also available).
-
The Atmosphere: This is a time for connection. The warm, fireside cabin offers a sense of "hygge"—that cozy feeling of contentment.
Down the "Kick and Push" Trek
After dinner, the adventure shifts. With high-powered headlamps illuminating your path, you will begin a guided 2km trek down the Ole K&P—the longest beginner run in Ontario.
Your Ottawa Valley Air Paddle guides will lead you through the stillness of the night, pausing to share stories of the legendary "Kick and Push" railway, the ancient geological faults of the Ottawa-Bonnechere Graben, and the nighttime wildlife that calls Dickson Mountain home.
The Fireside Finish
The evening concludes back at the base of the Black Donald Pub Terrace. Unwind in a relaxed lounge atmosphere with:
-
Gourmet S’mores: Roasted over an open fire.
-
Signature Cocktail: A warm winter cocktail or handcrafted mocktail to toast the night’s end.

Frequently Asked Questions
It is an exclusive, after-hours alpine experience. It includes riding the final chairlift of the day to the summit of Dickson Mountain, a gourmet candlelit fondue dinner with wine pairings, and a guided 2km starlit snowshoe descent.
The price is $199 per person. This includes your lift ticket, premium snowshoe and pole rentals, a high-powered headlamp, a cheese and meat fondue with wine pairings, and a fireside cocktail with s'mores at the finish.
The experience lasts approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. We begin check-in at 3:30 PM and usually wrap up the fireside social by 8:00 PM.
Not at all! If you can walk, you can snowshoe. Our guides provide a "Snowshoeing 101" briefing before we head out. We travel at a relaxed "Calabogie pace" to ensure everyone enjoys the scenery.
The descent is approximately 2km along the Ole K&P, which is the longest beginner (green) run in Ontario. It is a steady, gentle downhill trek that takes about 30–40 minutes.
Layering is essential!
- Base layer: Moisture-wicking material (avoid cotton).
- Mid-layer: A fleece or wool sweater.
- Outer layer: An insulated winter jacket and snow pants.
- Footwear: Sturdy, insulated winter boots are required. No sneakers or dress boots.
- Pro-Tip: Wear a zip-up or half-zip top. You will warm up during the walk down, and being able to "vent" your heat is key to staying comfortable!
Yes. We provide premium snowshoes (sized to your weight), trekking poles, and high-lumen LED headlamps for the descent.
The experience features a traditional fondue charcuterie board presented by Canthooks Restaurant. The meal is designed around an authentic Swiss-style cheese fondue kept warm at your table in traditional copper pots.
To pair with the melted cheese, you'll enjoy a vibrant dipping platter featuring:
- Artisanal Breads: Cubes of fresh sourdough and crusty baguette.
- Garden Vegetables: Crisp broccoli, sweet bell peppers, and snap peas.
- Fresh Fruits: Sliced pears, crisp apples, and juicy grapes.
- Hearty Bites: Roasted fingerling potatoes, savoury sausage, and rolled deli meats.
- Classic Garnishes: Tangy pickled cocktail onions and specialty dipping sauces.
We can accommodate most dietary needs (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.) if notified in advance. Please mention any allergies or restrictions by sending us an email at hello@ovap.ca after booking.
Absolutely. We can provide sophisticated non-alcoholic pairings that complement the meal just as beautifully as the wine.
There are no washrooms at the summit cabin or along the trail. We highly recommend using the facilities at the Adventure Centre or the Rental Shop before we board the 4:10 PM chairlift.
Your safety is our priority. If the chairlifts cannot run due to high winds or extreme cold, we will notify you as soon as possible to reschedule or provide a refund. The tour typically runs in light snow—it adds to the magic!
This experience includes a wine pairing and a winter cocktail in an intimate, late-night alpine setting. We recommend that all guests be 19+. All guests wishing to participate in the wine tasting or enjoy a cocktail must provide a valid government-issued photo ID upon check-in.
Because spots are strictly limited and catering is prepared specifically for the group, we require 72 hours' notice for a full refund.
