Snowboard Bindings FAQ
Pick binding size by your boot size, not your height, and check the chart for that exact model, because the cutoffs differ by brand. A men's US 8 is a Medium at Union, Jones, HEAD, Nitro and K2, but at the edges they split: a men's 9.5 is a Large at HEAD and a Medium at Union, Jones and K2. Bring your boots in and we'll check the fit.
Strap bindings from all of our brands come with a disc made for the common insert patterns. Union and Jones list 4x4, 2x4 and Channel; Nitro's disc lists 2x4 and Channel, so check the model page if your board has 4x4 inserts. Step-in bindings such as K2 Clicker X HB also need matching boots.
K2 and HEAD agree: soft for beginners and park, medium for all-mountain, and stiff for advanced riders, freeride and carving. Both also say your binding flex should suit your boots. Flex numbers aren't comparable across brands, because Jones, Nitro and K2 each use their own scale.
Start at your board's reference stance, which is marked on the inserts; Jones says your ideal width is usually within about 2 cm of it, and Union suggests slightly wider than your shoulders. For angles, Jones suggests +15/0 for beginners and a duck stance for park, and HEAD gives +15/−6 as a starting point. We mount and set up bindings in store when you buy a board.
