I’ve wanted my own kayak for years, but the storage and transport struggle always held me back. My best friend swears by her Oru folding kayak. I’ve gone out with her a couple of times using heavy rented kayaks, and while I was curious, I was totally skeptical of the Oru. At first glance, it honestly looks like a glorified cardboard box that’s going to fold like cheap lawn furniture and sink straight to the bottom. (Spoiler alert: I was so wrong).
After falling down a massive research rabbit hole on portable kayaks, I stumbled upon Ottawa Valley Air Paddle’s site and saw they offered demos. Total game-changer. (Don’t ask me why I never just tried my friend's Oru. Duh!).
My demo experience with Todd was amazing—super down-to-earth, zero pressure, and incredibly easy. The literal minute I sat in the Oru Inlet, I was sold. I didn’t even bother trying anything else! Even my furry little first mate, Loukie, hopped in and thoroughly approved.
After the demo, I buzzed right over to the shop where Erin took phenomenal care of me. She is so friendly, wonderfully knowledgeable, and provides top-tier customer care from start to finish. I rolled out of there with my brand-new Oru Inlet, a Pelican paddle, and the absolute perfect Onyx PFD for me and Loukie.
I’m obsessed with the whole experience from beginning to end, and I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am to finally own this nifty little kayak. If you need paddling gear, stop scrolling and go straight here—Ottawa Valley Air Paddle is the absolute best!

Just purchased the Oru Inlet and I'm really happy with it. It arrived less than 3 days after I placed my order online and I assembled/disassembled it in my living-room right away after watching the video and found it to be easy to do both (I am over 65). My first paddle was on a beautiful day on Lake Superior and it did not disappoint. What a great addition to my beach days! Customer Service has been awesome when I had a question. I would recommend this kayak for any beginner wanting to enjoy the waters.

I purchased my Inlet back in July and unfortunately it was damaged on arrival— the seat back was broken and I was unable to take it for a spin. Scott with OVAP was very helpful and arranged to have a new seat rest sent out to me directly from Oru through the warranty. It took about a month to receive the new seat rest. I debated returning the kayak in that time, as it was frustrating to have the unit but be unable to use it. I finally got the chance to take it out yesterday and I am very happy with this little kayak! It is easy to manoeuvre and feels very stable in the water. I was able to get in and out from a dock without any issues. It fits in the back of my Fiat 500 and is a breeze to set up and disassemble. It is quite roomey while you are inside, and I was able to easily adjust the back rest and foot rest so it feels like it’s made just for me. I can’t wait to see how it stands the rest of time with more use. After showing it to my friends they are all looking to buy one now too! Even though I was off to a rough start with my purchase, I’m glad it all worked out in the end and it was well worth the wait!

Oru Kayak - Inlet

I was a bit unsure about a fold out kayak given I am by a big lake, but the inlet proved to be a great but lightweight kayak. It was ideal for me as I have a bad knee making using a narrow seat space difficult. So this was a great beginner fold up kayak. It did cope with some small waves but not sure it could cope with more than very low lake waves. It was great though.

This kayak is awesome! I wanted a boat that I could handle on my own without having to hoist it into a kayak carrier on the roof of our car! This boat fits the bill to a T! Folds up to a suitcase weighing only 20 lbs and since I am 70 years old and only 114 lbs, this is perfect! It took me a few minutes to perfect the folding and unfolding to assemble and disassemble but the YouTube video provided was excellent. I tried it out the day after I got it since the wind and water gods played nice here in the South Okanagan and it is a dream! Thanks again for a wonderful product and follow up communication when it didn't arrive on the expected date.

Went to a demo days in search of a new kayak. It was great to get on the water to test them out. After I was decided on the winning one I headed over to the store to make my purchase. Both my husband and I got the oru inlet. Great kayak so far. We've got it out few times and are enjoying it. Great experience with the company right from the start. Highly recommended

At OVAC Arnprior Paddlefest this summer, I got to try lots of boats. I also tried assembling and folding up the various Oru boats. Although I like the Oru Bay, I felt it was a little too heavy for me. The Oru Inlet was the best fit for price, size, weight and assembly time. The staff at OVAC were very helpful. Paddlefest gave me the opportunity to try before I bought which is a great way to feel secure in your purchase decision. Paddlefest was a great event on a beautiful day.

Unique design and extremely light. Perfect for storing in small spaces. I have used it twice and still getting used to the set up and break down. The instructions are excellent and my five year old grandkids helped with both set up and break down. The kayak is very stable, comfortable with the add of a gel seat and moves quickly through the water.

I tried this kayak with Scott’s help before buying..The kayak serves our family’s need as beginners. It’s very easy to set up, great space saver, very stable and easy to handle. The service OVAP provides is excellent as usual. Happy to share that I am a returned customer to purchase this model again; now each family member has our own Oru Inlet!

I couldn't be happier with my new Oru Inlet Kayak! When they say from box to boat in minutes they weren't kidding. It's super easy to assemble and disassemble, incredibly lightweight/portable, and handles great in the water. I've already taken it to a few different locations and even been able to bring my cat along to join me now that I have an easy to transport kayak. And yes, my cat loves the purchase too! As for OVAP, you couldn't ask for better customer service. I have nothing but great things to say about Scott and Lana and would absolutely recommend them and OVAP to my friends and family, in fact I already have :)

we got this for easy portability/convenience and relaxed paddles on lakes and our large, slow-moving river. tried it out once on the river and it was great. easy set-up, even smaller/lighter than our BeachLT. i was worried i'd hit my hands when paddling b/c it's a little wider than the Beach, but that turned out not being an issue at all; thx!

This kayak is everything I dreamed of! Not only is it easy to set up and super portable, it also tracks nicely and is quite stable. It's comfortable and there's even enough space to bring my corgi along for the ride. Scott and Lana were very helpful and responsive and picking up the boat from them was a breeze. I had a slight issue with one of the fairings but they helped me solve it quickly and a replacement part arrived at my door within a couple of days! Thanks to OVAP, I've got the perfect kayak for my lifestyle and I can't wait for all the adventures I'll get to have with it!

After doing tons of research and watching many, many review videos, I bought my Inlet and Oru paddle. (as well as the Onyx Movevent PFD) Great decision! So easy to transport and store. It was a little stiff at first to set up, but is getting easier and easier, and is such a joy to paddle. It glides, and handles beautifully on calm water, and still feels stable and is very responsive in mild wind/wave. The paddle is very convenient, and versatile. As so many of the reviews indicate, the kayak attracts attention whenever I take it out, but it's a pleasure to tell people about Oru, and about OVAP. Looking forward to many happy hours with my Inlet! (and saving up for maybe the Bay?)

I had excellent service from Scott and Lana at Ottawa Valley Air Paddle. I purchased an ORU Inlet kayak on line in the evening and picked it up the next morning. The price was the same as if I had bought directly from the company ORU, plus I saved the importation fees. So you are much better off buying from Ottawa Valley Air Paddle. And the kayak is amazing, it takes 2 minutes to assemble and disassemble, and it is lighter and much faster than my former inflatable one.

I called Ottawa Valley Air Paddle regarding the Oru Kayaks, and received exceptional customer service. I then proceeded to make an on-line order. Email communication regarding my Oru Inlet purchase and delivery status was as I'd hoped.

My Oru Inlet just came yesterday, I set it up on the shaded sun deck a few times just to make sure it worked (it does), and took it out on the lake today. It is extremely responsive, tracks well, and is so fast and quiet…I just love it.

Good kayak. It does the job well.

The service I received from OVAP was excellent. I only took the Inlet out once and it seems to handle very well. Its really easy to unfold and fold back up after your first try and is done in minutes. I love that I can just throw it in my car and go, its light as a feather.
