OVAP Tours – Cancellation & Refund Policy

This policy applies to all OVAP tour experiences, including Light at Night Kayaking, Kaleidoscope Kayaking, Witches Paddle, and other guided events.

Cancellation Policy

Tour tickets are refundable up to 14 days before the event date. After this two-week window, all sales become non-refundable.

Tickets are transferable at any time. If you’re unable to attend and would like to transfer your ticket to another person, please email us at hello@ovap.ca. Both the original purchaser and the new ticket holder must confirm and acknowledge the transfer in writing.

Important: Never purchase tickets from individuals on Facebook or other social media platforms. These are almost always scams. OVAP is not responsible for the reimbursement of fraudulent or third-party tickets.

Refund Policy

Refunds are available if requested at least 14 days before the event.
After that point, tickets become non-refundable unless OVAP cancels the event.
If an event is cancelled by Ottawa Valley Air Paddle, you’ll receive a full refund.
If an event is postponed, and you're unable to attend the new date, we’ll issue you a credit for a future event.

We do not provide refunds for:

Customer cancellations within 14 days of the event
No-shows
Unused tickets

Weather-Related Cancellations

Safety is our top priority. We closely monitor weather conditions and may cancel or postpone tours in the event of:

High winds
Thunderstorms or lightning
Heavy rain
Other hazardous conditions

We do not cancel for light rain—please come prepared with appropriate weather gear.

A Special Note About Kaleidoscope Kayaking:
If Les Grands Feux fireworks are cancelled or postponed due to weather or any other reason, we will follow suit and cancel or postpone our event as well. In such cases, we will refund the ticket fee, but no additional compensation will be provided.

OVAP-Initiated Cancellations

If OVAP cancels any service (tours, rentals, events, or demo centre appointments) for safety or weather reasons, you may choose:

To reschedule for a future available date
To receive a full refund
To receive store credit

Customer-Initiated Cancellations

If you choose to cancel your booking within 14 days of the event—or due to personal weather concerns when OVAP has not officially cancelled—no refund will be issued.

Notification Process

If a cancellation is necessary, we’ll notify affected customers as soon as possible. Please ensure your contact information (and your guests’, if applicable) is accurate when booking.

Dogs

We love furry friends! Well-behaved, small to medium-sized dogs are welcome on our Light at Night Kayaking tour.

However, for their safety and well-being, dogs are not permitted on the Kaleidoscope Kayaking experience, which takes place near a fireworks display that may be overwhelming or stressful for animals.

Bringing Your Dog to Light at Night

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants—both human and canine—please ensure your dog meets the following criteria:

Size: Small to medium-sized (maximum 40 lbs)
Manners: Able to remain calm and quiet in a group setting, without disrupting other guests
Comfort: Familiar with being in a kayak and okay with getting a little wet
Safety: A doggy life jacket with a handle is strongly recommended and can be purchased from OVAP!

If your pup checks all the boxes, they’re welcome to join in on this glowing nighttime adventure!

Service Animals

Certified service animals are always welcome, provided:

They meet all legal requirements for service animal designation
Their presence does not interfere with the safety or experience of other participants
